Privacy Policy

A privacy policy is put in place to protect the client and disclose to the client how a company or website collects, uses and discloses their personal information. It is the obligation of the company to protect the client’s name, contact information and how they use the site.

Client Name Confidentiality

Under the policy a clients name is not allowed to be transferred or sold to a third party without the sole permission of the client. The name can also not be used on any product or writings without sole permission of the client. A name no matter how common is not the property of the company and cannot be used as their property for usage without the permission of the client.

Protection of Clients Contact Information

The same rights and courtesy apply with a clients address, email, phone and fax numbers and information. They cannot be sold to a third party or used in any way without the sole permission of the client. The client also has the right to refuse to input this information on any form the site may require. The company must specify what the information will be used for and whom it will be given to. It must also be stated if the information is for a newsletter or for any type of forum or game registration.

Collection of Web Usage for Statistical Purposes

A company must disclose to the client if they are collecting their computer usage information for statistical purposes. The company must explain how the information will be used and if the information will be given to a third party for analysis or purely statistical purposes, and if this information will be used for an outside source or if the information will be kept in house only. There are also cookies which are in place to allow the company to track the client’s usage and for the saving of password information. This can be useful for the client it saves time, but the client must be made aware that they can disable this feature if they so choose, by selecting this option in their computers tool bar safety features.

Conclusion

Every company must be aware that they must have a privacy policy in place in order to protect themselves and their clients from fraud, theft and lawsuits of any kind. The client’s rights and privacy should be protected and valued in order to keep the client’s and customer’s happy and safe.
